Hi there, welcome to NeuroKind Consulting β€οΈπ§‘ππππ
I am so happy you're here!
My name is Jessica Reamon, but you can call me Jess. My pronouns are she/they. I live in Portland, Oregon.
I went to college at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh and have my Bachelor's degrees in both Elementary Education and Special Education, with a dual teaching license to teach both.Β
I taught in Milwaukee Public Schools in WI for 5.5 years: 3rd grade for half-year, and then in a Comprehensive Autism Unit for 1st-3rd graders with Autism and other disabilities, for five years.Β Β
I then moved to Portland in August 2021 and was an Autism Consultant with NWRESD for 3.75 years (left in June 2025).
In Milwaukee I became passionate about the use Neurodiversity-Affirming approaches while utilizing a trauma-accommodating lens.Β IΒ stopped using any type of Behaviorist approaches (e.g. positive reinforcement, rewards), and my students flourished.
As an Autism Consultant with NWRESD I started learning about different presentations of Autism, especially as I began evaluating children who were AFAB, which led me to questioning my own neurotype. I received an Autism diagnosis in August 2024 and have also discovered a few other Neurodivergent conditions: ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, BDD, and sensorimotor OCD (possibly).Β
I later gained my DIR Floortime certification, which prompted me to begin working directly with children again, and this is how NeuroKind Consulting came to be. For more information about my approach and the scientific underpinnings of it all, feel free to head on over to that page to learn more.
